Pro Bono social enterprise advice programme
Throughout her career Kate has worked with small charities on a pro bono basis to help them innovate and generate sustainable income. Knowing many of these organisations could never afford to access her kind of expertise, she offers a proportion of her time to providing support and mentoring. Below are just three examples of her work with the kitchen table charity sector.
St Peters Lifeline - Micro finance programme
St Peters Lifeline is a Kenyan based charity providing education and community support in rural Kenya. Kate worked with the Trustees to look at innovative ways to leverage very small amounts of money to maximise local impact. Using the Grameen Bank model she helped the organisation create a sustainable micro finance programme which has now made over 3000 small business loans to women in the region, creating sustainable local income for rural families.
ADEyfield free church - Community asset based development
In the early 2000s the leadership of Adeyfield Free Church in Hemel Hempstead had a vision to create a range of community services from homelessness support to childcare. Kate worked for 3 years as an advisor to support them develop their strategy, using their current asset to leverage £2million of investment in the creation of a new church and community building that now provides a range of formal and regulated services to the local community.
leatherhead theatre & Enterprise centre
Kate was a working Trustee of the Leatherhead Theatre and Enterprise Centre in Surrey for 8 years. Helping the organisation to create sustainable income through the development of a social enterprise workspace hub. This listed buildings architecture sets it apart and it is now regularly used in TV and Film production. A working bar, consession stand and café were created to help support the core creative and conference business. Owned by a collective of churches in the local area this is a real community owned asset!
